Poker Glossary

Hand: Cards held by a player during a single round of the game. Each player is dealt a set of private cards, known as hole cards, which they can use, along with the community cards to make the best possible poker hand.

Ante: A small forced bet that all players must place before a hand is dealt. It ensures there's something in the pot to play for.

Hole Cards: The private cards dealt face down to each player, which only they can see.

Community Cards: Cards dealt face-up in the center of the table and shared by all players to make their best hand.
